CROSSROADS
VILLAGE
Crossroads
Village Decorates for Christmas. We've never walked through it
because every year it has been way too cold for us. This year,
the Village decided to allow cars through one night a week and
we jumped at the opportunity. We got there just around
dusk and I got some great shots of lights. I was so busy
taking pictures that I didn't see the full displays. By the time
we were through the village, it had gotten dark enough to
realize there were many more lights that we hadn't seen earlier,
sooooo we turned the car around and went through it all again.
They gave us 3-D glasses to add an extra sparkle to the
lights. We didn't need them though. The lights were
amazing. I wish these pictures could show how really lit up they
were. It was awesome and beautiful. I especially love this
first photo. I think it's obvious why.
These first three
photos are different angles of the same huge building. The
picture just below shows a tree inside the Dry Goods shop all
lit up. The entrance door you see in the middle leads up
two flights of stairs to the stage theater where they put on
shows at various times of the year. The stage is small but the
seating is two balconies and the floor so it can hold a lot of
people. The shows are put on by volunteers of the Village
and are usually pretty cute and funny. They try to be real
scary at Halloween which is my favorite time of the year to
visit the village.
This is suppose to be
a replica of a hotel but it houses a gift shop with all sorts of
cute things you can buy.
The photo below shows
a few of the houses in the village. Looks like the first one
needs some paint.
Below is the working
passenger train. It is fun to ride especially at
Halloween when they have ghosts and goblins along the track
route. We didn't take it for Christmas since it wasn't running
that night but the route they laid out for the cars to drive
through the village passed the same areas so we didn't miss
anything.
This tree was the
most decorated of all the trees. They have a million lights just
on it alone. It was truly beautiful and looked as if it were
covered in ice.
Below is the same tree
from a different angle. You can see the huge building in the
background that is featured above close up.
Now, I'm on the other
side of the above house seeing the lights from the huge building
and the lights on the fence and bushes in the foreground.
Below is a replica
train totally decorated with lights. It was really cute but I
couldn't get any closer to take the picture. Actually we weren't
even suppose to stop our cars but as you can see it was just
dusk and we were one of the first cars through and no one was
behind us so we took full advantage by taking all the pictures
we could. I saw a security guard and asked him if it was
okay to take pictures and he said "sure".
The picture below is
rather sad because it was absolutely beautiful driving
through these trees all lit up. It looked like a winter
fairyland. It just doesn't "show up" that well here.
The mass of lights on
the left (pic below) is the backside of that replica
train. The mass of lights in the middle of the pic was a
gazebo that was totally lit all over. Again, I couldn't get
close enough to see it. On our second trip through I could get
closer to both but I had run out of film by them. Drat!
The archway below was
really pretty. The building you see right in the middle of the
arch leads to the Riverboat that you can take most of the year
to view the river. They also have lunch and dinner cruises with
entertainment and shows. The building on the right houses
a very old carousel and you can ride it endlessly if you
want. There is also a small ferris wheel and some other
old-fashioned rides behind the carousel building.
