Happy Halloween!

Welcome to our Halloween bash!  Everyone loves to tell jokes, stories and solve puzzles.  So, would you like to play for awhile? Okay then, come with me.

I want you to meet Onyx, my little black cat. Cute isn't he?  He and his little mouse friend are bringing in the last of the fall harvest. I wonder who put the face on the pumpkin? You don't suppose Onyx did it all by himself do you? I wouldn't be surprised! :)

Oh dear, now he looks a bit scared.   Is it the spider that scares him? Well, maybe a little. But, the spider is smiling and Onyx knows he won't hurt him.  What I think is scaring him is the fact that Halloween is fast approaching.  You know about all the spooky stuff that goes on Halloween night and for a little kitten that can all be pretty scary.

But, Onyx has another reason for being a bit apprehensive and that is because of all the legends that surround Halloween ..... witches, bats, ghosts, and black cats.  I usually keep Onyx in the house on Halloween night because some people and some children think it's funny to hurt or scare a black cat because of their association with the holiday and that isn't nice at all.  So, I hope if you have a black cat, you will keep your kitty safe and away from all the trick-or-treaters and pranksters.  Actually, it's a good idea to make sure all your pets are in the house and out of harms way. Some pets get scared when there are suddenly so many people at your front door wearing  scary costumes and yelling "trick or treat". I know it scares me!

Now, Onyx has been invited to a party at a friend's house which is the safest and most fun way to celebrate Halloween anyway instead of going to a stranger's house and asking for candy.  He really wants to go to this party because all of his friends will be there. He has spent weeks trying to figure out what kind of costume to wear. Well, he finally came up with one and I think it is pretty clever.  He has decided to dress up as a white cat in a witches costume.  What do you think of that?

Can you tell it is Onyx? I can't either! (grin) Now, I would say that he has certainly come up with a good idea. Now he can go to the party and have a great time.  He looks pretty happy doesn't he?

Well, now that he has his costume on, it is time to take him to the friend's party.  Now this might get kind of scary. Wouldn't you just know that we would have to travel through a graveyard to get to his friend's house.  Of course you knew that! (grin) So, here we go!

Whew!  That was a lively group wasn't it?  (grin) You weren't scared were you? Nah! Me neither!

Okay, are you ready to venture into the party? You might be very surprised as just who the "friends" are that Onyx is going to see. If you are ready, let's go. Can I hold your hand? I'm not scared but I thought maybe you are????

Here's a Limerick for you......

A librarian, H. Graham Wells,

Thought someone was ringing his bells.

When a witch on a broom,

Flew into the room,

And asked for a good book of spells!

~~~~~~~~~~~
As if that wasn't bad enough, here is another one (grin).....
There was a young woman named Tats.
Whose cooking was done in big vats.
When I went to her house,
She fed me stewed mouse....
Now I know why her friends are all cats!
~~~~~~~~~~~

One more.........

There was a wild witch of the West

Who thought that her spells were the best

So she clallenged her friend to a duel to the end...

Twas a spelling bee laid her to rest!

~~~~~~~~~
I promise, this is the last limerick! Honest!....
A devil sailed west out of Rome
And docked near a volcanic dome.
He said, "Gee, this is hot,
But I like it a lot,
For it sure does remind me of home!"
